This session will focus on the implementation and ongoing management of private market investment from the perspectives of a master trust currently investing in these assets, an advisor to small and medium own-trust schemes that are already doing so and a trustee, including:

- How master trusts are approaching private market investment
- How the approach of small to medium schemes differs
- An asset manager’s early experience with LTAFs
- Key risks to consider and governance challenges

Chris Moore
Segment Lead, The Pensions Regulator
Chris Moore is Lead Investment Consultant for DC and Master Trusts at The Pensions Regulator, advising the supervision and policy teams on investment matters.
Prior to joining TPR in 2023 he enjoyed a long career with BlackRock, working with public and private sector DB and DC schemes to deliver asset and liability management strategies across all asset classes. He also spent many years in portfolio management, marketing, pooled fund development and distribution.

Jane Walker
Head of Investment Strategy, Mercer Limited
Jane joined Mercer Workplace Savings team in 2020, with a background in DC and DB pensions investment advisory. Her responsibility is to ensure that Mercer’s best investment ideas are made available to savers within Mercer’s DC delegated solutions, including the Mercer Master Trust.
Roger Mattingly (Chair)
Trustee Director, Independent Governance Group
Roger is a Director at the Independence Governance Group and an APPT Accredited Professional Trustee. He chairs the trustee boards of many shapes and sizes of pension schemes, including two DC Master Trusts.
He is a Past President of the SPP, has a number of current pension industry roles, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
