SPP Event: Adequacy - Looking Beyond Pensions
This is the second event in an SPP series exploring DC adequacyOnline
Wednesday 06 May 2026
09:00-10:15
With the Pension Commission expected to report in 2027, our Adequacy Series will run over 2026 and will delve into the key drivers of retirement adequacy. Each session will explore a different area, from improving knowledge and engagement, to looking beyond pensions, to finally considering what we actually mean by “adequate”.
This second event in the series will look at lifetime savings beyond pensions, asking how we can improve wider savings and address some of the other financial challenges we face, whilst supporting better retirement outcomes. The event will consider both the accumulation and decumulation phases and we will hear from:
-
the Nest Insights team, on research into side car savings and accessing pensions savings to help buy a home
-
the PMI on their Lifetime Savings Initiative
-
and, the Equity Release Council, on what equity release might involve and how it could help.
Chaired by Calum Cooper, Partner and Head of Pensions Policy Innovation at Hymans Robertson, this will be an engaging and thought provoking session.
