The latest developments in life expectancy for DB pension schemes. This will include a detailed look at the new CMI model for projecting life expectancy. The event is aimed primarily at actuaries, but may be relevant to others with an interest in the impact of life expectancy on DB pension schemes. The panel brings together a number of actuaries, including from the CMI Mortality Projections Committee, and has a professional trustee in the chair.

Michael is a Senior Consulting actuary at Gallagher Benefit Services. He has been in the profession for around 40 years, advising both Corporates and Trustees on all aspects of defined benefit pensions. At Gallagher he heads up the Longevity Team analysing all the latest trends in mortality and formulating guidance to assist his firm’s actuarial colleagues.
Susan Hanlon
Principal, Mercer
Susan is an actuary in Mercer’s Policy, Professionalism and Research team, leading the team’s research on mortality, and providing expert advice to colleagues and clients on this and other topics. She also chairs the CMI’s Self-Administered Pension Schemes (SAPS) Committee.
Sanjay Gupta (Chair)
Professional Trustee, BESTrustees
Sanjay joined BESTrustees in January 2025 following a successful 35-year career working as a pension scheme actuary. Sanjay is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
Sanjay brings a deep understanding and breadth of experience in both DB and DC pensions advising both trustees and sponsors on all aspects of pension schemes.
