Tristan Walker-Buckton, Co-Head of Origination, PIC
Tristan joined PIC in 2006 shortly after its inception and the number of completed transactions he has led or been heavily involved with is approaching 100, from <£10m in size to multiple £bns. His experience includes a wide range of structures; residual-risks, longevity swap conversions, collateralised buy-ins etc.
He most recently led on the £900m deal with De Beers UK Pension Scheme, the £500m deal with Next Group Pension Plan and the £1.2bn deal with TotalEnergies UK Pension Plan.
Patrick Lloyd, Senior Consultant – Risk Settlement, XPS Group
Patrick is a senior consultant in the XPS Risk Settlement team with nearly 20 years’ experience advising pension schemes on strategic end-game planning and advising on buy-in and buyout transactions. Patrick has led advice on more than 50 bulk annuity transactions across a range of scheme sizes and complexity, including many that have had a surplus at buyout.
Colin Parnell, Director of De-risking & Special Projects, Capita Pension Solutions Ltd (Chair)
Colin is a Director and Actuary at Capita with extensive experience of taking trustees through the journey to buy-out and wind up. He takes a leading role in the preparation of schemes for the bulk annuity market, execution of bulk annuity transactions and managing the final stages through to wind up. With 22 years of pensions advisory experience and over 80 bulk annuity transactions to his name so he has seen most of the different journeys that can be taken to reach buy-out and wind up.
James Saddler, Pensions Lawyer and Partner, Doyle Clayton
James is a Partner in Doyle Clayton’s Pensions Practice and advises trustees, employers and individuals on pensions law issues. James has very broad practice, covering virtually all legal areas in connection with private sector pensions, and has recently built a significant practice in advising trustees and employers on bulk annuity transactions and scheme wind-ups. On several cases this has involved advising on a surplus which has arisen in the scheme, and managing the delicate issues this can create.
Amanda Banister, Senior Professional Trustee, Dalriada
Amanda is a Director of Dalriada, having joined in 2021. She is an experienced Accredited Professional Trustee who has been in the pensions industry for over 25 years. She has a very wide range of experience on and around trustee boards of all types. Amanda has a legal background and remains a qualified solicitor. Amanda chairs Dalriada’s scheme risks committee, to which high profile decisions, such as surplus distribution, are referred.
